INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK IN TURKMENABAT

International Education Week was celebrating in American Corner Turkmenabat for five days and more than 150 visitors who represented high school children, young people, teachers and professionals, came to participate in presentations and events.
The first day was devoted to the ceremony of opening the IEW with the national anthem song of the USA by American Corner of Turkmenabat manager Nina Afanasyeva and FLEX alumna 2009 Lachin Italmazova announcing the upcoming activities.
Everybody was invited to participate in an essay contest on the theme “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”, and prepare something interesting for closing talent show. The presentation about system of higher education in the USA,
educational opportunities in the US colleges and universities was followed by debate on the topic “Why would I choose study in the USA?” by FLEX’09 Ali Hamrayev. Two teams were discussing advantages of American education. During this week there were different educational presentations as “Standardized Tests”, “Why study at community college,” “Resume
writing,” “FLEX program,” “Essay Writing,” “US Government sponsored programs,” “Opportunity Grant,” “Educational Web Resources in Turkmenistan,” “Technology Age Girls,” etc. Cultural events of the IEW were of great interest for visitors. FLEX program alumni made up American High School festival sharing their experience of U.S. high school with lots of feelings, different funny stories, including tons of pictures.
