WOMEN’S ROLE IN AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY

On 24th and 25th of February Jennet Berdiyeva, FLEX alumni ’09 and Batyr Gurbansahedov, AC volunteer organized a presentation in Mary American Corner. The main purpose of the presentation was to acquaint people with famous Africa- American Women and their role in American history. During the presentation Jennet Berdiyeva showed movie maker project and demonstrated the famous African-American women of our days and the last century, after the presentation 14 high school students had an opportunity listen to the story of African -American women’s awakening against human rights in the United States in the middle of the 20th century. At the end of the presentation the facilitator made short slide show with quotes of famous African American women about such life important topics as freedom, equality and right for setting goals.
The next day on 25th February Mary American Corner volunteer Batyr Gurbansahedov organized a “Brain Ring”. During the game all participant divided into three teams and compete on the main topics of the month.
Participants had an opportunity to expound differences between racial and gender discrimination, compare opportunities of African-American women on work, education and right of the word changed over the years.
